Regardless of the tightened security in the borders, the corruption and bribery cases by the patrol agents are on the rise day by day.  In the first half of 2009, 14 patrol agents are arrested for corruption which adds to the total of 28 arrests during the year 2008. This shows an extensive rise in the corruption. The Mexican drug businesses group is the reason for the corruption who bribes the agents to cleverly escape the border easily. An attack was made on April 19^th in which eight law officers were shot dead by the twenty gunmen to release a cartel member under arrest.
